For traditional sweets in Kalavrita

Believe it or not, on the pedestrian street of Kalavrita you will find two shops with top traditional sweets of their own production. In the patisserie Tzouras - Avramopoulos, with experience since 1975, are offered flavours such as macaroons, sweet rose, spoon sweets, millefeuille, profiteroles along with several others. The day I visited it offered walnut pie with Madagascar vanilla ice cream or wild cherry! This is also one of the places of Kalavrita that you must definitely visit.

Patisserie Ermeides

Most well-known however is the patisserie Ermeideis, specializing in spoon sweets and most of all in rodozachari (rose sugar), a family recipe brought by the family from Kerasounta of Pontus after the uprooting in 1922. The recipe was enriched in Kalavrita by a species of a hundred leaves rose in the area, as its name suggests, rose sugar is produced from the rose. It has received domestic awards and today is the most famous dessert of Kalavrita, at the entrance there are samples for visitors to try.

The patisserie has been operating since 1926. Other pastries for which it is known are petrokeraso (stone cherry) and agriokeraso (wild cherry), of course the variety of pastries is great with all the good things and not only what Helmos offers. Classic sweets such as galaktoboureko and pastes with local ingredients are also prepared.
