Local products to buy in Monemvasia
You will find local monemvasian products in all the tourist shops of the castle town.
For more variety, shop in the new town, at the Harami confectionery (Moreos Idista), the Kolones confectionery and the House of Flavours (Spiti ton Gefseon).
The local products I recommend you to buy are:
- Amygdalota if you don't know that Monemvasia is famous for its amygdalota it's time to find out!
- Samousades the byzantine version of baklava. It's a rolled traditional phyllo with walnuts, chopped almonds and sesame seeds
- Syglino of Monemvasiawhen you hear synglino your mind goes to Mani, but here the method of preparation is different, so the taste is different too
- Hydromeli the ancient drink from water and honey as its name says, a product of Laconia
