Vouliagmeni Lake

Vouliagmeni Lake is a magnificent and impressive monument of nature, although it is located next to the sea, its water comes from a thermal spring and is not marine. It is not mentioned by the traveler Pausanias, which means that it was created after the 2nd century AD. Before the lake there was a large cave which roof collapsed due to erosion. From there the area got the name "Vouliagmeni" (the sunken one).

The waters of the lake are warm with a temperature of 21 - 29°C all year round and rich in salts and minerals. Swimming there contributes to the stimulation and the relaxation of the body, offering a holistic experience of well-being. The brackish water is constantly recycled from the sea and the thermal springs that spring up at a depth of 50 - 100 meters. The lake is included in the Natura 2000 network.

You will go to the lake for swimming, coffee or to eat. At first there is an entrance with the prices as follows:

There are showers, a restaurant, changing rooms and lockers. It is open from 8 am to 8 pm. The ticket is for the whole day. Entrance to the cafe is free but it is not located next to the lake. The price of the coffee varies around 5 euros depending on the coffee you will get a price quite reasonable for the location.

There is a free parking lot to the left of the lake entrance but the valet asks for the keys and there is a chance he will tell you he will park it himself. I told him I would only stay for a few minutes to see the lake as seen from the parking lot and luckily he didn't take it. I noticed that the keys are not kept locked or guarded so I do not recommend giving them to him. There is also a small parking lot in the area of the lake but you must have arranged by phone first.
